Effectively Treat Wrinkles, Discolored Skin & Scars

Overexposure to the sun. Natural aging. Genetics. There are a number of reasons why you may start to see changes in the surface and structure of your skin. Chemical peels are a safe and effective way to address these slow signs of aging and they could be the solution for you as you look to retain your youthful glow. At the Donaldson Plastic Surgery Medspa in Dublin, OH, we offer a variety of professional chemical peel treatments, each designed to exfoliate the face and neck, leaving you feeling rejuvenated and refreshed!

What Is A Chemical Peel?

Chemical peels regenerate the skin and stimulate collagen and elastin production by giving you microscopic exfoliation. The goal of a peel is not necessary to make your skin peel intensely; instead, the treatment looks to replace dead skin cells and increase cell turnover. How deep the specific chemical peel is applied can vary based on a number of factors, including the product’s pH, concentration, type of the chemical being used and the methodology used to apply the product on the skin.

Many patients prefer chemical peels because they are less expensive, less painful and offer a swift, excellent result.

The Types of Peels We Offer

TCA Peel

Reveals softer, smoother, clearer skin. This advanced peel is great for congested and problematic skin. It will help refine the skin’s texture, correct sun damage and provide overall healthier skin. Recommended in a series of 3 or 6, once per week.

Lactic Peel

Reduces the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, sun damage and acne. This gentle peel is excellent for any skin type, especially sensitive and first-time peel patients. Recommended in a series of 3 or 6, once per week.

Customized Peel

Customized to nourish while removing dead skin cells, creating the perfect pH balance for your unique skin. It also fights free radical damage that causes premature aging by removing the top layer of skin and exposing newer, fresher skin.

Experience The Power Of The Perfect Derma Peel

It includes ingredients like kojic acid and TCA that work together to brighten and rejuvenate the skin. The Perfect Derma Peel offers three additional boosters that can help further enhance your results and target more stubborn cosmetic concerns.

What Type of Chemical Peel Do I Need?

Your aesthetician will work with you to decide what type of peel gives you the best result and what is appropriate for your skin type (normal, dry, oily, combination and sensitive) and based on your skin concerns. For people who regularly receive chemical peels, the strength of each peel can be increased each time. As a result, the person’s tolerance increases, and over time, one is able to receive stronger peels with decreased downtime.

Tatjana Dzamov and Nikki Rucinsky know the ins and outs of each treatment – from ingredients to expectations based on skin types. They talk to you about your history with chemical peels, your current skin care regimen and your biggest concerns before matching you with the perfect option. Our aestheticians are here to help you reclaim your time, your confidence and your glow!

Am I A Good Candidate For Chemical Peels?

In order to determine if you are a good candidate for a chemical peel, we start by asking you a few questions about your skin.

These questions can include:

  • Do you see brown or age spots on your face, neck or chest?
  • Do you have an uneven skin texture or tone?
  • Do you have red spots, visible capillaries or Rosacea?
  • Do you have fine lines and wrinkles which would like to minimize them?
  • Do you have oily skin?
  • Do you have dry skin?
  • Do you have actinic (solar) keratoses?

If the answers to any of these questions are yes, you are most likely a good candidate for a chemical peel!

Who Is Not An Ideal Candidate?

Patients with the following conditions are not a candidate for a peel:

  • Isotretinoin (Cis-retinoic acid, Accutane, Roaccutane) use within 6 months or a year (must obtain a physician’s recommendation)
  • Skin not acclimated with Vitamin A
  • Micro-dermabrasion, dermabrasion or laser resurfacing
  • Herpetic outbreak (cold sores)
  • Recent waxing or extractions
  • Open wounds (acne lesions or other bleeding lesions)
  • Pregnancy and lactation
  • Cancer or radiation treatment or if skin feels sensitive
  • Autoimmune disorders
  • Uncontrolled diabetes
  • Recent permanent make-up
  • Sunburn
  • Dermatitis
  • Expectations that exceed what chemical peels can do.

How Do Chemical Peels Work?

During a chemical peel process, the chemicals cause a reaction with the skin and dissolve the outer layers of dead skin (Stratum Corneum layer of the epidermis) to help even the skin tone, texture, promote collagen and elastin formation, and release growth factors to promote the appearance of smoother texture and clearer complexion.

The result is visibly healthier looking skin, with clearer and more even texture and tone and the appearance of diminished pore size.

Are There Any Side Effects Of Chemical Peeling?

Depending on the type of peel, one may experience a mild tingling sensation or feel heat on their skin. You may notice no peeling or by the second or third day, you’ll notice flaking and this may continue for up to 7 to 10 days.

How Often Should I Get A Chemical Peel?

Chemical peels should be done in a series of three to six peels or as needed, preferably during the fall and winter seasons. Depending on the p.H and type of the peel one is receiving, one can have a chemical peel once a week, every other week or up to every month or longer in between. The repetition results in a more intense effect without being painful, harmful or destructive to the skin and gives excellent results.

What Should I Avoid After A Chemical Peel?

It’s important that you don’t aggravate skin, scrub, pull or pick at skin or generate any additional heat during the first 48 hours. Your skin will be more susceptible to burning and Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH). Avoid exercise and hot baths for 48 hours. Apply physical sunscreen every day regardless of the weather and sun exposure. Also, avoid the use of harsh exfoliants or active cleansers (such as benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid, etc) for 2 weeks after your treatment.
