BBL HERO is a revolutionary laser therapy treatment specifically designed to safely and effectively treat the deeper layers of your skin to give you a healthier, rejuvenated look! This gentle phototherapy procedure uniquely delays the skin aging process and can even address damage from the sun before it begins to show itself.
This treatment is often used on the face, neck, chest, arms, legs, and back to treat the following concerns:
One of our experienced providers will first review your goals, identify specific areas of concern and confirm your treatment plan.
To begin, they will sanitize your skin and then apply a topical numbing solution for your comfort. Once the area is completely numb, you will lay down and we will apply a cooling gel to protect your skin from the heat of the laser and facilitate a smoother glide for the BBL hand tool. You may be asked to wear eye protection to help safeguard you from light exposure.
The provider will dial in the perfect wavelength to match your skin tone and begin sliding the tool across your skin in one consistent motion to ensure an even treatment.
If you are having multiple areas treated, the provider may apply the numbing agent to the next area of the body while working on the previous section.
Most patients can return to work immediately after their treatment! The most common side effect is some slight redness around the treatment area and light discomfort – but nothing more noticeable than a sunburn. This typically resolves itself in just 2 – 4 hours.
You may also notice that your skin is more sensitive to sunlight. For this reason, we recommend you apply sunblock before coming in direct contact with the sun. You can also use moisturizer after your treatment but you should avoid products with retinol, glycolic acid or salicylic acid for at least a week.
Some patients may experience bruising due to vascularity issues after their treatment. This is not a severe concern and can be easily addressed with a cool compress.
The initial BBL HERO treatment typically requires 3-5 sessions spaced 3-5 weeks apart. The number of sessions ultimately depends on when the patient is happy with their results.
After the initial results, it is recommended to re-treat about 2-3 times a year for maintenance.
BBL HERO is known for its gentle, non-invasive nature. It carries little risk to those with lighter/untanned skin. However, BBL is a light-driven treatment, and melanin in the skin absorbs this light, which puts those with darker skin at risk of burning, scarring and increased pigmentation issues.
BBL HERO is designed to target and break up pigment in the skin, meaning that individuals with medium to dark skin tones are at risk of having adverse effects from BBL HERO. Candidates for treatment with BBL HERO fall between 1 through 4 on the Fitzpatrick Scale.
This treatment is also beneficial as a preventative treatment for those in their 20s and 30s. You may not see the visible evidence of sun damage or other skin conditions now, but they are developing under the visible layer of the skin and will appear on the surface as you age. Addressing sun damage now with BBL HERO will help maintain that youthful look for years to come.
