IN OUR WORDS

What Different Implant Profiles Mean

Breast Implant Low Profile

Low Profile

A subtle outward curve for understated shape that you may have never had before

Breast Implant Moderate Profile

Moderate Profile

Adds volume to your natural shape, like a push-up that’s not trying too hard

Breast Implant Full Profile

Full Profile

A noticeably fuller & rounder look; think of it like “the bra look without the bra”

375cc – the Most Sought-After Solution

This implant size and profile is often chosen by patients across all ages, ranging from 20s to 50s. It’s ideal for individuals looking to restore upper pole fullness while maintaining a soft, natural contour that blends seamlessly with their body shape — especially mothers, those who’ve experienced weight loss & younger women seeking natural-looking results.

  • Implant Profile: Moderate Profile (balanced shape that adds volume without much projection)
  • Material Used: Silicone
  • Texture: Smooth
  • Surgical Placement: Dual plane (upper part under the muscle, lower part under the breast tissue)

560cc – A Fuller Look with MORE Noticeable Projection

This option is typically selected by patients looking for a more prominent, fuller look — especially those who want a more dramatic cleavage line that shows up in fitted clothing or swimsuits. These individuals are often clear in their preference for a more defined silhouette.

  • Implant Profile: Full Profile (more dramatic projection, especially through the cleavage line)
  • Material Used: Silicone
  • Texture: Smooth
  • Surgical Placement: Dual plane

190cc – Subtle, Incredibly Natural-Looking Enhancement

This size appeals to patients who want to make the smallest visual impact possible, often opting for this augmentation that is so subtle that even close friends may not notice. This solution is about quiet confidence, proportion and an ultra-natural appearance.

  • Implant Profile: Low Profile (most subtle option with minimal forward projection)
  • Material Used: Silicone
  • Texture: Smooth
  • Surgical Placement: Dual plane or above the muscle (if the patient has enough breast tissue)

“The Ballerina Breast Augmentation” An Increased Demand For A Smaller, More Natural Look

Over the past 10 years, smaller implant sizes and lower profiles have become more requested, especially among individuals who want to enhance their breast shape without drawing extra attention. These refined augmentations are a great solution for patients looking to celebrate existing beauty without feeling compelled to exaggerate their projection.

DID YOU KNOW?

800cc: The Largest Breast Implant Available In The US

The largest silicone implant available for cosmetic breast augmentation in the U.S. is 800ccs. While some surgeons will employ overfilled saline implants and even “stack” breast implants, Dr. Donaldson and Dr. Michelle Sieffert prioritize results that are both safe and proportional.

The use of 800cc implants is relatively rare and reserved for specific patients with the anatomy to support them.

“I’ll use an 800cc implant when it’s appropriate, aligns with the patient’s goals & is medically sound — but those instances are few & far between. I probably only do that a few times a year, versus other implants in the 350cc to 400cc range that we use hundreds of times.”

Implant Placement Matters

Over the muscle. Under the muscle. Dual-plane. The placement of your implants plays a big role in how they look, feel, heal and respond to your body. Our surgeons help you choose what’s right for your health and your goals.

Silicone Vs. Saline Breast Implants

As you may have noticed, all of the implants mentioned above are silicone-based. However, each of these sizes is also available in saline. Our surgeons almost always recommend silicone due to its more natural look and feel, as well as a lower likelihood of visible rippling. Saline remains an option in unique cases, but for most patients, silicone provides the most aesthetically pleasing and natural-looking long-term result.

Why We Choose Smooth Over Textured Implants

All of the implants referenced in this article are also smooth round implants — and that’s intentional. Smooth implants have been the gold standard in the U.S. for years due to their flexibility, comfort and ability to move naturally with the body. This surface texture allows the implant to shift subtly with your anatomy throughout the day, maintaining a soft and natural look by simply pushing out the existing breast tissue.

In contrast, textured implants are designed to stay firmly in place. Their gritty outer shell adheres to the surrounding tissue, which can help maintain implant positioning but may feel less natural, especially in more active individuals.

“The issue with the textured implant is that it has been implicated with a very rare form of lymphoma. So, I’ve always avoided textured implants in my practice because I just don’t even like the slightest chance of that.”

A Quick Reminder

This Is A Thoroughly Personalized Decision

While we’re sharing the most popular breast implant options we’ve seen in recent years, your ideal implant size and profile is contingent on your existing breast tissue, skin elasticity, body frame and aesthetic goals. There’s no one-size-fits-all. And we believe that’s a great thing.

“Implant size is highly dependent on each individual’s preferences & anatomy: how full the tissue is, how much they weigh, their chest configuration. A great deal of conversation & exploration goes into finding the best implant.”
– Dr. Michelle Sieffert
