With the help of effective injectable dermal fillers such as Juvéderm®, Columbus, Ohio, surgeons Dr. Jeffrey H. Donaldson and Dr. Michelle R. Sieffert can give you control over your aging looks. Dr. Donaldson was of the first surgeons in Columbus to offer Juvéderm® XC— the first Juvéderm filler that actually contained numbing medicine for maximum comfort.
This minimally-invasive procedure has become popular because patients experience very little down time after the injections. Also, Juvéderm® treatments often last longer – up to a year, as compared to Restylane® or BOTOX® Cosmetic, and it carries minimal risk of complications.
Juvéderm® therapy will leave you smiling for many reasons:
No more aging smile lines.
No more frown lines.
You can still show emotions.
Thin creases appearing at the corner of your mouth will vanish.
Thin, dry lips no longer require gloss and plumpers to look pretty and full.
And no more concealers, as under eye dark circles fade away.
To many women, the size and shape of the lips play a crucial role in their facial appearance. If you are looking to redefine and reshape your lips, you may want to consider Juvéderm, an injectable filler often used for lip restoration and augmentation. At Donaldson Plastic Surgery, our team is ready to help you restore the life in your lips!
Juvéderm® Ultra Plus
Juvéderm Ultra Plus is a thicker more viscous substance than Juvederm Ultra. Therefore, Ultra Plus can provide more dramatic results in areas with deeper lines and hollows in the skin.
What Causes the Aging Look & How Can We Reverse It?
MRI’s and 3-D photography have proven that we all lose facial volume and fullness as we age. This process is more responsible for signs of aging than gravity — and it can be curbed with facial fillers.
Many products have been used in the past to increase volume in the cheeks, including fat, Restylane, Juvéderm, Radiesse and Sculptra.
Who Is the Right Candidate for Juvéderm?
This procedure is ideal for anyone who wants to improve the appearance and fullness of their lips. Those with fine, vertical lines around the lips, sometimes as a result of smoking or using drinking straws, can benefit from this treatment. Also, if you are looking to enhance the cupid’s bow (the dip in the middle of the upper lip), treat lip lines and creases, or just define your natural lip contour, this treatment is right for you. Before the procedure, you will need to consult with your doctor to discuss your unique expectations.
How Does Juvéderm Work?
This dermal filler contains a hyaluronic acid based gel that helps in plumping the lips. This acid is made naturally in the body, though production slows as you age. It has a moisturizing effect that gives the lips and the face a youthful appearance. After cleansing the treatment area, this gel is injected in different areas of the lips depending on the aesthetic that is being achieved. For lines that are difficult to treat, Juvéderm can be combined with other laser treatment options to ensure optimum rejuvenation.
What to Expect After Juvéderm Treatment
After treatment, your physician may advise you to protect your lips with an SPF-based lip balm if you are exposed to the sun. Saunas and steam rooms should be avoided for two weeks. There is minimal risk of swelling or bruising, but you can use an ice pack to relieve swelling should you experience it. Also, it is recommended not to partake in any additional treatments in the lip area for at least one week.
More Juvéderm for subtle lips: Volbella
Juvéderm Volbella is another dermal filler that contains hyaluronic acid to add volume to your lips and is used to smooth wrinkles and fine lines. It is a single treatment that helps in smoothing vertical creases, improving the appearance of the lip contour, and achieving the right symmetry. Volbella uses Vycross technology to have a cross-linking impact on the gel that is injected into the lips. This treatment can improve the cupid’s bow of the lips and treat marionette lines.
Other Juvedérm Products: Voluma
Voluma has the advantages of predictability, consistency and durability. Because hyaluronic acid naturally occurs in the collagen of human skin, it does not require allergy-testing and does not risk rejection. The cross-linking process renders the product more durable and early studies indicate patient satisfaction up to two years after treatment!
