Can You Drink After Fillers

And Some Additional Considerations Once You Leave Your Injection Appointment

Can You Drink After Fillers

You just walked out of the medspa and you’re feeling yourself. On your drive back, you may be itching to call up your friends and hit the town while your confidence is soaring but there’s that looming question: Can you drink after fillers?

The answer: yes, you can drink after getting filler injections. However, we suggest waiting at least 24 hours after your treatment to allow the punctures to heal properly.

You Can Have A Good Time — But Stay Vigilant!

It’s no secret: when we drink alcohol, our inhibitions are lowered. The things that once felt uncomfortable could now be swept under the rug. Some warning signs start to go unnoticed as the wine starts flowing.

While an infection is exceedingly rare after getting filler, it still can occur! We suggest keeping yourself in a reasonable state of mind so you can pick up on the early signs of possible infection or negative reactions, like fever, chills, itching and pain.

Drinking Can Hinder The Healing Process

Alcohol is a vasodilator meaning it widens your blood vessels. Having a few drinks can irritate the already-inflamed injection site area. In this way, drinking after fillers isn’t dangerous but it may make your swelling worse and prolong your recovery time.

Do NOT Drink Before Your Filler Appointment

Alcohol thins the blood, which causes blood vessels to take up more space underneath the skin. This can result in bruising near the injection sites. We tell patients they should abstain from drinking for at least 24 hours before their appointment to decrease the potential for any adverse effects. We want you to have the best experience and the greatest results! Ditching that nightcap will help you harness the full effect of your fillers.
