Ultherapy treatment is a non-surgical face and neck treatment that uses ultrasound to lift and tone loose, sagging skin without downtime. This FDA-approved technology has helped thousands of patients rejuvenate and refresh the deep connective tissues of the face, neck and décolleté. Additional skin tightening and lifting are now possible in the chest, underarms, buttocks, tummy and arms, as well.
We have recently adopted a new in-office skin-tightening solution called “Morpheus8” and are no longer booking Ultherapy appointments. This increasingly popular treatment offers the same incredible results as Ultherapy, but with greater customization for each patient and the ability to tackle more skin concerns including fine lines, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation. Unlike Ultherapy, Morpheus8 can be used on more areas of the body including the arms, legs, abdomen, buttocks and more.
Ultherapy is the only FDA-cleared non-invasive treatment that can specifically target the deep foundation below the skin that is addressed in cosmetic surgery without cutting or disrupting the surface of the skin. It is also the only tightening procedure that simultaneously uses ultrasound imaging to visualize the layers of tissue as they are treated. This ensures that the energy is precisely titrated and targeted where it is most effective. Ultherapy does not replace facelifting, but it does provide an ‘uplift’ to the skin for those wishing to postpone larger procedures or avoid them altogether.
Ultherapy focuses ultrasound energy below the surface of the skin to stimulate the body’s creation of new collagen. Collagen gives skin its youthfulness by keeping it firmed, toned and elastic. As we age, collagen levels decrease and the skin loses elasticity so that it thins and sags. Ultherapy initiates a natural repair process that produces fresh, new collagen. As a result, skin will actually begin to lift and tone over time. Each treatment is customized to the individual needs of each patient, and typically lasts 30-60 minutes. Our Advanced Training Ultherapist completes each step to ensure your outcome is optimal.
There may be some discomfort during ultrasound energy pulses, particularly around the eye socket and jawline, but it is a temporary signal that the collagen-building process has started. Comfort thresholds vary from patient to patient, so Dr. Donaldson and his staff will create a treatment plan to minimize symptoms and provide you with the best possible experience.
Unlike surgery, there is no aftercare or downtime with Ultherapy. Patients occasionally notice mild swelling, bruising, or tenderness, but these rare side effects typically resolve within a day or two. You may return to normal activities immediately following this procedure as the surface of the skin is never disrupted. Because of the precise application of sound waves, results are proven after just one treatment. Depending on your skin laxity and body’s biological response, you many benefit from more than one treatment.
Additional treatments are possible after 6 to 12 months, but results generally last up to 3 years. Although the aging process will continue, you can maintain your results for as long as possible by avoiding unprotected sun exposure, practicing a good skincare regimen at home, and avoiding significant weight fluctuations.
