The Modified Wedge Labiaplasty Technique

And A Closer Look At The Differences Between Wedge & Trim Methods

Modified Wedge Technique Labiaplasty

There are two main labiaplasty methods: the trim and the wedge techniques. In a nutshell, the trim method cuts the skin in a straight line and stitches the area on the edge. This is a very simplistic way of performing labiaplasty. The wedge method involves removing skin in a triangle or v-shape. This is meant to create a more natural appearance and preserve tissue dignity.

Our very own Dr. Jeffrey Donaldson has modified the wedge labiaplasty technique to both make it even safer and to guarantee exceptional, long-lasting results.

What Is The Modified Wedge Labiaplasty Technique?

The modified wedge technique is an excellent option because it is more intentional and safer than the trim method. The main point of difference with the modified version is that the surgeon will remove the skin on top of the muscle. The inside is not impacted. This adds an additional layer of safety to the procedure to protect the dignity of your tissue. The sutures are placed on the sides, so they are hidden within the folds.

A Bespoke Approach To Your Confidence

The modified wedge technique is always customized because labia are never symmetrical. One side will have some more removed than the other. This technique is available to patients of all ages – from mothers to 18-year-olds.

Dr. Donaldson Modified Wedge Technique

“The modified wedge technique allows me to reduce the amount of tissue with less than a 1% risk of complications, and without a visible scar. It causes minimal pain and minimal downtime, and creates natural, beautiful results.”

– Dr. Jeffrey Donaldson

The Benefits of the Modified Wedge Technique:

  • Preserves clitoral integrity and sensation
  • Maintains natural pigmentation
  • Creates a smooth and attractive contour
  • Undetectable scar

The trim technique isn’t able to accomplish all of these benefits because it often damages the functional tissue in the area.
