A little nip here. A small tuck there. As cosmetic surgery continues to surge in popularity, Central Ohio baby boomers are in step with their national counterparts in seeking facelifts, breast augmentations and chemical peels. Erin Hufford, marketing director of Columbus Aesthetic & Plastic Surgery, said baby boomers are a mainstay of the Columbus-based practice.

“They are pretty much the majority of the demographic we see in our office,” she said, adding that while cosmetic procedures are typically associated with women, men also have signed on to get rid of wrinkles and under-eye bags.

“There has been a significant rise in (male clients) in the last 10 years, especially with the popularity of injectibles. Men can have the same trouble spots as women.”

With cosmetic work becoming a focal point in today’s pop culture, Hufford said, many baby boomers have shaken off old conventions of going under the knife.

“With how much it’s on television and seen with celebrities, it’s not as taboo,” she said. “It’s in the public eye.”

Like the client base at Columbus Aesthetic & Plastic Surgery, many of the patients who rely on Dr. Jeffrey Donaldson to turn back the clock on their appearance are baby boomers.

“For many clients, (the desired procedure) is something they have always wanted and now they finally have the resources to do it,” he said.

Donaldson, owner of Donaldson Plastic Surgery, agreed with Hufford that the old taboos surrounding plastic surgery are largely gone.

“It is so much more in the spotlight and many clients are
comfortable talking about it,” he said.

“There is not so much of a stigma attached to it. I’ve seen people who come in because they have a wedding coming up or a reunion or they are starting a new job or they’ve gotten a divorce and are looking to date again.”

Unlike in decades past when clients often kept quiet about getting work done, Donaldson said, he has many baby boomers who get excited to film video testimonials for his website.

“As an office, we are strictly confi dential but people are more vocal than ever before,” he said. “Some patients are definitely excited about it.”

When it comes to plastic surgery, Columbus, Ohio men are increasing in numbers. In a recent interview with WCMH-TV4 News, Dr. Donaldson explains this growing trend. He describes how men are considering popular procedures such as liposuction, face lift, and chest sculpting.

Columbus, OH (PRWEB) February 28, 2012 (Vocus/PRWEB) — In an interview with WCMH-TV4 in November of 2011, Dr. Donaldson elaborated on the growing trend of male plastic surgery. With his practice in Columbus, plastic surgeon Jeffrey Donaldson, M.D., asserts that men’s interest in cosmetic surgery continues to rise. He estimates that men now comprise as much as 10 percent of his practice – a trend that is mirrored nationally in the field of plastic surgery. Columbus, Ohio men realize that the latest techniques are safer, more natural and less invasive than ever before.

According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), 750,000 cosmetic procedures were performed on men in 2010. Experts expect to see even more men opting for these interventions in the 2011 and 2012 data. This growing popularity among men is also echoed in Dr. Donaldson’s experience.

“Today, men want to look their best,” stated the Columbus plastic surgeon in a recent interview on WCMH-TV4. “Male patients are seeking body contouring procedures, like liposuction, eyelid lifts and face lifts”. Columbus, Ohio men are also opting for less invasive procedures, like Botox, to enhance and rejuvenate their appearance.

According to the most current ASAPS statistics, the top five cosmetic procedures for men are rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty, otoplasty, breast reduction, and liposuction. Columbus, Ohio male patients turn to these procedures to remove excess skin and fat, refine facial features and lend a younger, refreshed look.

During his interview with WCMH-TV4, when asked his thoughts on this growing trend of men seeking plastic surgery, Dr. Donaldson said, “There is less stigma. Men are more aware of their appearance, and they are realizing that if surgery works for women, it will work for them too. The workplace is competitive, and men want to look their best to give themselves an edge.”

For men considering cosmetic treatments, Dr. Donaldson stresses the importance of finding a board-certified plastic surgeon who has specific experience with male techniques. His practice in Columbus, Ohio caters to men with the utmost discretion and expertise.

Female athletes have sought out plastic surgery to prepare for the 2012 Arnold Classic. Columbus, Ohio plastic surgeon, Jeffrey Donaldson was featured on WSYX-TV6 to talk about this new trend.

Columbus, OH (PRWEB) April 24, 2012 (Vocus/PRWEB) — There is an emerging trend in female athletes who turn to plastic surgery. Columbus, Ohio recently became the proving ground for this development when the Arnold Sports Festival returned to town last month.

For some female competitors, cosmetic procedures like liposuction and breast augmentation offered valuable solutions to the imbalance and disproportion caused by training. Local reporters from WSYX-TV6 spoke with Dr. Jeffrey Donaldson about the number of women seeking plastic surgery prior to competition.

“Certain times, genetics can’t get them all the way,” Dr. Donaldson said. “[Cosmetic surgery] is one way in which they can enhance their physiques to try and win.”

Dr. Donaldson has assisted fitness competitors, triathletes, bodybuilders, marathoners and professional players to achieve their cosmetic surgical goals – most recently in preparation for the Arnold Classic. Columbus, Ohio serves as a major hub for athlete development and fitness competition, and Dr. Donaldson’s practice is well situated to serve these individuals.

“In the case of a female athlete who loses breast volume while she’s training to increase her musculature, it may be appropriate to reconstruct the breast that’s been lost,” Dr. Donaldson said.

Breast augmentation, liposuction and procedures involving BOTOX and Restylane may boost confidence and lend a competitive advantage; however, Dr. Donaldson does not offer implants for calves, biceps, buttocks, pectorals, shoulders or other muscular areas that may be directly judged during bodybuilding competition.

The Arnold Sports Festival features 45 sports including weightlifting, gymnastics, boxing, judo, karate and more. Approximately 175,000 fans converge on the Columbus area over three days to witness competition among 18,000 athletes – it is the largest multi-sport event of its kind in the world.

The event, headlined by former bodybuilder, actor, and politician Arnold Schwarzenegger, was another huge success in 2012. It continues to grow as a proving ground for serious athletes, and with help from Dr. Jeffrey Donaldson, a local plastic surgeon, Columbus, Ohio may also become a proving ground for advances in cosmetic procedures among athletes.

Excerpt:

I had been thinking of having a breast augmentation for many years. After nursing two children I was ready. I researched, researched, researched and had consultations with 3 different surgeons. As soon as I met with Dr. Donaldson and his nurse I had no doubt he was the surgeon I was looking for. A natural, proportional look was very important to me and I wanted a surgeon who understood my goals. Not only did he know what I envisioned he was showed me his recent work with women who were my body type and had the same size silicone implant I was considering and it was amazing. I had no idea “fake” breasts could look so natural (if nature made perfect breasts that is). If you do your research you’ll know why it’s important to see your particular body type to really decide on the size but Dr. Donaldson will not suggest something that won’t “fit” with your body anyhow. I made my surgery appointment immediately after our consultation and the cost was about what I expected and competitive with the other surgeons I had met. I also want to add that I had the usual nervousness about a month before and e-mailed him a couple questions. He not only e-mailed me back THAT DAY he called me that evening as well. I ended up going back in to go over everything again and both him and his nurse answered every single question I had (which was a lot) and never rushed me in any way. They encourage patients to ask questions because they really want you to be informed and at ease. Great bedside manner, easy to talk to, attentive and incredibly skilled. What more do you need from your surgeon?

On the day of surgery I was understandably nervous. I’ve never had any kind of surgery, let alone general anesthesia and Dr. Donaldson and his nurse Bobbie, both stopped in pre-op to answer any questions and reassure me. I went in to the operating room, laid down on the table and an hour or so later I woke up in post-op. I had 339cc silicone implants placed under my muscle with crease incisions. The whole thing, from check-in to walking out took about 3 hours. Not bad. My recovery was remarkably smooth. Both the doctor and his nurse called me that evening to make sure I was feeling OK and to see if I had any concerns. I didn’t require anything stronger than Tylenol by the second day and was basically back to all my normal activities within 4-5 days. I have two toddlers I stay home with so “normal” means going non-stop. When I tell people I’ve had a breast augmentation they are amazed. They look THAT good! ( For ex: 10 days after my BA I was out for St. Patty’s with a basic white t-shirt on and several girls commented on how nice my breasts were. Yes it was St. Patty’s and girls tend to be comfortable commenting on these things when they are drinking 🙂 I happily told them they were “new” and they were shocked because they didn’t “look fake”). From all the research I’ve done I can tell you that my recovery has been exceptional. It’s been a month and I love my breasts more everyday. They look incredibly natural, proportional and perfect. I love them so much I don’t mind telling people I’ve had a BA because Dr. Donaldson and Bobbie (his nurse – and those two are definitely a team) deserve all the credit. He’s an artist. Not only did he know exactly what I was looking for, he was able to give me the breasts I’ve been dreaming of since I was 17. I’m a fan for life. I’m even having Botox injections at his office next week. If you are looking for a cosmetic surgeon you will not find anyone better. Period.
