Dr. Michelle Sieffert
If, like many of us at Donaldson Plastic Surgery & Aesthetic Solutions, you’ve taken this time of social distancing for self-improvement, then you’re probably also thinking, “Once I’m allowed back to some sense of normalcy, what can I do (that I couldn’t do at home) to continue what I started?”
I’m here to highlight just a few of the services we offer that I recommend when “coming out of quarantine” to help you on your journey to become the best, most confident version of you!
Neurotoxin injections (such as Botox, Xeomin, Dysport, Jeuveau, etc.) are used to treat wrinkles caused by muscle activity—most commonly in the forehead and around the eyes. They can also be used for prevention if you are only just starting to see wrinkles surface! The injections are relatively painless, only take a few moments to complete, and only need to be repeated roughly every 3-4 months (so you may be starting to see those fine lines and wrinkles return while on quarantine). My single rule for neurotoxin injections is simple: no exercise for 24 hours afterwards.
We offer complimentary make-up touch-ups after any injectable procedure, so you can get back to your life without anyone being the wiser!
Filler is a substance made of hyaluronic acid (HA), which is a naturally occurring substance in your skin. It is used to plump areas of the face and body that have experienced volume loss, or to shape areas of the face like the nose, chin, and jawline. Different fillers (Ultra and Ultra Plus, Voluma, Vollure, Volbella, Restylane, Radiesse, etc.) are designed with different measures of thickness and longevity; they can last anywhere from 1-2 years depending on the product used and the location injected. Some of my favorite locations for filler are the lips, cheeks, jawline, temples, and nasolabial folds. The treatment generally lasts 30 minutes (most of that time is spent discussing your needs and desires), and you can expect mild, but not unbearable, discomfort.
I suggest planning filler injections at least a week ahead of any major event, as swelling and bruising is a possibility with any filler injection. As mentioned above, we offer complimentary make-up touch ups after your injectable visit, so you can leave our office looking and feeling like you!
Perhaps you’ve been experimenting with making your own facials at home to keep your skin healthy and glowing, but need a little something extra to brighten or moisturize as you’re getting back to work. In my opinion, nobody performs a more relaxing and effective facial than our Lead Medical Aesthetician, Tatjana!
Tatjana offers 45 minute to 1 hour-long facials and peels, targeted to your specific skin type and individual skin concerns. Come in to see Tatjana to discuss any medspa skin service you might be interested in, including brightening your skin, controlling acne, hydrating dry skin, improving fine lines, and calming irritated and inflamed skin.
Everyone has that “one area” that, no matter how hard you exercise and diet, never seems to go away; this is where CoolSculpting is of benefit! The advanced CoolSculpting technology freezes localized areas of fat, causing damage and, ultimately, death, of the fat cell itself. Over the ensuing 2 to 3 months, the body removes the damaged fat cells from the area, causing a reduction of up to 25% of the fat present in the treatment area.
Each CoolSculpting treatment, or “cycle”, lasts 1 hour. You can expect mild discomfort and tingling as the treatment begins and ends (as the skin cools and re-warms), and an area of numbness that returns to normal between 2 days and 3 weeks afterwards. As with any minimally invasive body contouring technology, multiple treatments in the same area are required to get a great result.
CoolTone is the newest non-invasive body contouring tool at our practice, and one that I am personally pretty excited about! It uses electromagnetic stimulation to give your abdominal, gluteal, or thigh muscles (other treatment areas coming soon) a intense 30-minute workout, with the result being visible toning and strengthening. This is a perfect solution for anyone who wants firmer abs, tighter glutes, or more defined thighs!
CoolTone treatments begin with a series of four 30-minute “workouts” performed over a 2 week period, with subsequent maintenance treatments performed on a quarterly to monthly basis. I recommend that any necessary fat reduction be done prior to muscle toning, which is why I encourage pairing CoolSculpting with CoolTone for best results.
In my many years as a fitness competitor, I always had trouble with my abdominal region, and I can honestly say after my first series of four treatments I have never seen my midsection look better. I am a strong believer in CoolTone’s technology!
That wraps up my top 5 suggestions for coming out of quarantine! Wrinkle relaxers, fillers, facials & peels, CoolSculpting, and CoolTone are among our most popular services, and are here to help you continue your efforts to help you feel your best every day!

In response to these changes, and for a desire to restore some sense of normalcy to our patients, the aesthetic professionals at Donaldson Plastic Surgery have turned to telemedicine as an alternative to traditional in-office consultations. We want you to know it is OK during these tough times to consider aesthetic services, both surgical and non-surgical, and that we are here to answer your questions and keep you feeling your best!

Secondly, you will submit a series of photographs to help your Donaldson Plastic Surgery provider create an individualized plan just for you!
In order to ensure that your consultation goes smoothly, we ask that you submit your photos through our HIPAA compliant platform, TouchMD. Soon after scheduling, you will receive a welcome email from TouchMD which includes a link to create a profile, and instructions to download the MyTouchMD application. This will enable you to submit the photos used for your appointment. The photo submission button can be found by clicking the menu button on the top right of the MyTouchMD app. We ask that you complete these submissions 48 hours in advance so that we have time to prepare for your consultation.

The world may have slowed down, but even in these difficult and unconventional times, you still have your own ambitions and vision for yourself. Donaldson Plastic Surgery has long been an advocate for personal growth and comfort, which is why we have expanded our service offerings to include secure, one-on-one virtual consultations.
Stay at Home orders have been issued, but that doesn’t mean your personal journey has to come to a halt. In fact, you can use this down time to consult with a world-class plastic surgeon, ask any questions you may have and further understand all of your options before finalizing an official date for your procedure.
A Donaldson Plastic Surgery virtual consultation is a completely remote method of connecting patients with our providers to discuss surgical and nonsurgical cosmetic procedures. The virtual consultation format contains all of the components of an in-person consultation, including a discussion of your wants, needs and goals, along with a thorough explanation of your treatment options, the viewing before and after photos and a comprehensive walk-through of information related to scheduling and financing.
Virtual consultations are a completely discreet and secure way to discuss any concerns you may have with a trusted and highly-trained plastic surgeon. You will have a fully-clothed, one-on-one conversation with your surgeon, where you will collaborate to design a plan that is just right for you and your vision.
Everything begins when you submit a request to schedule your virtual consultation – you can also reach us directly by phone at 614-442-7610. Our team will, then, reach out within one business day to answer any questions you might have and to schedule your virtual consultation. You will receive a welcome email that includes an invite for your virtual consultation using GoToMeeting, a secure, HIPAA-compliant video conferencing platform. You will then receive a separate email prompting you to fill out and submit virtual paperwork prior to your consultation, as well as any pictures you wish to include.
On the day of your consultation, you will receive a video conference call inviting you to connect with your provider – and the virtual consult will begin! Make sure you are in a secluded space where you can discuss information freely with your provider. Like an in-person visit, we encourage you to bring any and all questions for your provider to discuss during the virtual consultation.
After your video chat, you will receive a call from our Patient Experience Director Carrie, who will provide an exact quote for the procedure(s) you discuss, as well as financing options and payment plans. She will also talk to you about the process of scheduling your surgery and answer any other questions you might have. Depending on your consultation, we may set up a time for you to come into the office for a second consultation prior to your procedure to complete your surgical plan.
Our patients include mothers and fathers, daughters and sons, all with loved ones they care about protecting and keeping safe from COVID-19. It’s our duty as healthcare providers to adapt to a new way of conducting operations and provide the best possible patient care with the tools available to us.
Our virtual consultations allow us to connect with patients in a sophisticated way, and provide a treatment plan as if the consultation was in-person. Above all else, we want our patients to know they have a safe place to turn when it comes to discussing their aesthetic options.
Performing virtual consultations allows us to be more accessible resources to our community. Especially in times of turmoil, it is important for patients to make educated and sound decisions about their bodies. Even in the midst of COVID-19, the needs of our patients do not dissipate.
We are offering virtual consultations because we want to be able to help educate our patients about their bodies and the changes they are going through, and to remind them that they are not alone. It is our privilege to walk this path together with you.
During the COVID-19 stay home order, I am offering complimentary virtual skin care consultations and analyses for any patient at home wanting to maintain or improve their skin.
At-home skin care is incredibly important during this stressful time, so it is my mission that patients know how to take the best care of themselves. I can show you which products to use, how to use them, and give in-depth explanations of the science of your skin issues to tackle them at the root. My patients are important to me, which is why I would like to offer my expertise to those at home.

Happy 2018! There’s nothing like a new year to get you excited about all the new opportunities that will come your way!
As you start planning for the new year (and maybe make a resolution or two), you might ask yourself, “Is this the year I’m finally going to pursue plastic surgery?” Chances are you’ve been thinking about it for a while but never felt like the timing was right. So how do you know if now is the right time?
Here are a few signs that can help you identify if you’re ready to move forward with surgery.
Anytime you are making a decision about how you look, it is so important that it comes from an inner desire to boost your confidence and feel good about yourself. Maybe you’ve never liked the shape of your nose, or perhaps your face is starting to age and you want to restore some of your youthful glow.
Just remember — no one should ever make you feel like you have to change something about your appearance. If you can truly say that you are doing this for you and no one else, that’s when you know that you are ready to go on this journey.
The decision to have plastic surgery is a big one. Before you ever make an appointment, spend some time doing a little research. A good place to start is learning the basics of the procedure you’re interested in — Who is a good candidate for this particular surgery? What does the procedure entail? How long will it take to recover?
Once you have an idea of what to expect, the next thing on your list is researching local surgeons. Find out who performs plastic surgery in your area and in what procedures they specialize in. And don’t forget to vet their credentials — Are they board certified? How long have they been in practice? Do they have good reviews from former patients?
Lastly, you should be well informed about the potential risks and complications associated with the surgery. All surgeries, even small procedures, have risks. Being aware of these risks will help you know what you can do to reduce them and better prepare for the procedure.
If you’ve done your homework and feel confident that this is something you want to do, that’s a great sign you’re ready for the procedure.
The required downtime varies from procedure to procedure, and everyone heals a little bit differently. But generally speaking, you’ll need at least a week off from your daily routine to rest. That means taking time off from work, skipping your morning workout and dialing back on social outings. The only thing on your schedule should be spending some quality time with your bed, resting. Sometimes that’s easier said than done. When you have a full-time job with a busy schedule, taking a week off might not always be possible.
Part of planning for plastic surgery is planning for the recovery. Do you have some flexibility with your schedule or have vacation days saved up that you can use? If your answer to that question is “yes,” you can check that off your list!
This goes along with your recovery. After the surgery, you’re going to need a little help taking care of yourself. Having a strong support system of friends and family in place is absolutely essential to ensuring a smooth recovery. You will need someone to drive you home from the surgery center the day of the procedure, as well as someone to stay with you that night and make sure you have everything you need. And that’s just the first day!
As you continue to rest, you might need someone to run little errands for you, help out around the house and get the kids to and from school. Not to mention, you could use a little companionship while you’re stuck at home. If you have family and friends around you who support your decision to have surgery and are happy to help during the recovery period, that’s further proof that you are ready to do this.
Now that you’ve decided that you are ready for plastic surgery, it’s time to schedule a consultation! Dr. Donaldson would be happy to meet with you to discuss your needs, answer any questions you have and map out a treatment plan that will get you the results you’re looking for. Make 2018 the year that you To schedule a consultation with Dr. Donaldson, call us at 614-442-7610 or email email@example.com with the subject line “Consultation Request.” We look forward to seeing you!
A family practice physician in Stamford, Connecticut recently had his medical license suspended because he was performing plastic surgery. According to court testimony, he offered liposuction in his office, which led to seizures and respiratory arrest.
Dr. Donaldson educates his patients about the proper training required to perform complex surgical procedures. He uses his own background as an example: 4 years of medical school, 5 years of general surgery residency, 2 years of plastic surgery fellowship and 6 months of oculoplastic and aesthetic sub-specialty fellowship.
Plastic surgery is real surgery. First, it requires a rigorous, scientific knowledge of anatomy and medical concepts; second, it demands mastery of aesthetic principles and a keen sense of beauty and proportion. For major plastic surgical procedures such as liposuction, Columbus, Ohio, plastic surgeon, Jeffrey Donaldson, recommends seeking a real plastic surgeon!
As plastic surgeons, we constantly strive for more efficient and safer techniques that yield better results. But, we also urge potential patients to educate themselves about procedures they are interested in which means it is up to us, as surgeons, to provide them with access to this information. In a recent press release, New Jersey plastic surgeon, Dr. Paul M. Parker, and the Parker Center were highlighted as examples of the push for improving patient education through informational Websites.
In the release, Dr. Parker says, “When [patients] come in armed with their own research and a list of questions, it ensures that we address everything they are concerned about.” So, like Dr. Parker, we make sure that our Website offers the most accurate information so our patients are well informed before coming for a consultation.
We use many of the same tools that Dr. Parker uses on his New Jersey plastic surgery Website for The Parker Center. This include video and written testimonials, procedural information and staff background and credentials. All of these tools are instrumental in not only educating potential patients, but also in choosing the right facility and surgeon.
As noted in the press release, there are thousands of pages on plastic surgery so it is imperative that ours offers accurate information and is also welcoming. Patient education is beneficial to everyone and because most potential patients search the Internet first, the Website is where they get their first impression. This is why, like Dr. Parker recently updated his New Jersey breast augmentation pages, we are always reviewing the information on our site and updating when necessary.

As awarded by Patients’ Choice and based on feedback from satisfied clients, Dr. Jeffrey Donaldson recently received the great honor and distinction of being named one of America’s Most Compassionate Doctors. In the field of plastic surgery, this special recognition is a reflection of how patients felt about the quality of their care and the bedside manner with which they were approached. Other factors that are taken into account include follow-up care, appointment availability, courtesy of the office staff, and the amount of patient-doctor face time that is a part of the experience.
While many physicians often receive positive feedback from their patients, Dr. Donaldson, in his practice as a plastic surgeon, is among just 3% of the nearly 870,000 practicing doctors in the nation who have been awarded this special certification. The patients of Dr. Donaldson were very consistent in offering high praise for the personalized care that they received at his facility.
Patients’ Choice is an online resource where individuals can rate and comment on their favorite practitioners. Now, an icon that denotes the “Compassionate Doctor” distinction appears beside Dr. Donaldson’s name and listing as a plastic surgeon on the Patients’ Choice website.
Donaldson Plastic Surgery is proud to have a dedicated team of professionals on board. Dr. Donaldson’s surgical first assistant, Bobbie Perry, has recently been recognized as one of the fifty most influential graduates from Columbus State Community College. The school is preparing to celebrate its 50th anniversary, and in honor of the special occasion, they are recognizing students and former graduates who have excelled in their fields to make a difference within their community. See more here: http://cscc.edu/50/stories/Bobbie-Perry.shtml
Bobbie was a full-time mother for many years until she decided to continue her education with a degree in accounting. She soon realized she loved the medical field more, and she switched to the Surgical Technology program. She worked as a surgical assistant for eight years before wanting to do more. She loved being a part of the surgical team, so she enrolled in classes yet again to become a surgical first assistant. After completing coursework and 150 hours of clinical supervision, Bobbie joined the team at Donaldson Plastic Surgery.
Bobbie is now a fixture at Donaldson Plastic Surgery – beloved by patients, co-workers and Dr. Donaldson alike. She has a reputation for being kind, knowledgeable, supportive, empathetic, and always going above and beyond in her approach to patient care. Come by and visit Bobbie anytime, unless she is helping in the operating room!

Why was this company started?
A: During my training, I studied successful practices in L.A., New York, Miami and Atlanta. I realized that Columbus needed a highly trained plastic surgeon with a sophisticated, patient-focused, boutique practice that makes people feel at ease. We are attentive, approachable and skilled at delivering results that rival any other in the country.
What was the turning point when you realized you were onto something?
A: Three years ago, my patient coordinator came to me exasperated because so many patients had requested surgery that we had run out of file folders. She used her lunch break to visit Staples so we could accommodate more new patients that afternoon.
Have you had to seek financing as you have grown?
A: We have been very fortunate to not need financing. We share space with another private practice, which has kept overhead in check.
What dangers are in growing too quickly?
A: Growth can dilute the brand if it is not carefully planned. The fundamental principles – in our case, safety, attentiveness, empathy, the doctor-patient relationship – must never be abandoned for the sake of growth. We emphasize that bigger is not necessarily better, but better is better. When the emphasis is on quality, not quantity, growth naturally follows.
Did you know any entrepreneurs growing up?
A: As a child and young adult, I counted physicians and business owners among my mentors. I admired the doctoring profession – particularly the surgical skill set – and at the same time I was enamored with the innovation and measurable accomplishments inherent to business ownership. I am lucky to have found both as a plastic surgeon.
What’s your recession lesson?
A: Keep the overhead low. In the short term, it is easier to manage costs than to increase revenue.
Columbus Business First has selected Dr. Jeffrey Donaldson as a member of this year’s class of Forty Under 40 honorees. These young, high-achieving men and women were chosen out of a group of approximately 240 central Ohio nominees. The diverse group of individuals varies in professional backgrounds, and Dr. Donaldson is the only plastic surgeon to be honored this year.
The journal’s annual Forty Under 40 awards program recognizes Columbus’ most notable up-and-coming professionals and community leaders. Honorees are evaluated on community service efforts, career achievements and other awards and distinctions. Forty Under 40, now in its 22nd year, is the Columbus Business First’s longest-standing awards program.
This is not the first time Dr. Donaldson has been featured in the pages of Columbus Business First. The journal first interviewed him about his plans in November of 2008, before he had even opened his Columbus-based practice! The next interview was in February, 2009 when he discussed the impact of innovative technology on the field of plastic surgery. In 2013, Donaldson Plastic Surgery was awarded the journal’s “Fast 50” distinction, which recognizes the fastest growing local businesses in central Ohio. In this feature article, Dr. Donaldson discussed his inspirations and the experience of growing a thriving plastic surgical practice.
The 2014 class of Forty Under 40 honorees will celebrate at a formal dinner and awards’ ceremony to be held at Hollywood Casino on Thursday, May 29th. Additionally, Business First will profile Dr. Jeffrey Donaldson, alongside his 39 cohorts, in its May 30th issue. Selection for this program underscores Dr. Donaldson’s dynamic role in the local community and proves what Donaldson Plastic Surgery patients and staff have always known: he is not only an excellent plastic surgeon but also a valuable asset to the city of Columbus.
