Dr. Michelle Sieffert
If, like many of us at Donaldson Plastic Surgery & Aesthetic Solutions, you’ve taken this time of social distancing for self-improvement, then you’re probably also thinking, “Once I’m allowed back to some sense of normalcy, what can I do (that I couldn’t do at home) to continue what I started?”
I’m here to highlight just a few of the services we offer that I recommend when “coming out of quarantine” to help you on your journey to become the best, most confident version of you!
Neurotoxin injections (such as Botox, Xeomin, Dysport, Jeuveau, etc.) are used to treat wrinkles caused by muscle activity—most commonly in the forehead and around the eyes. They can also be used for prevention if you are only just starting to see wrinkles surface! The injections are relatively painless, only take a few moments to complete, and only need to be repeated roughly every 3-4 months (so you may be starting to see those fine lines and wrinkles return while on quarantine). My single rule for neurotoxin injections is simple: no exercise for 24 hours afterwards.
We offer complimentary make-up touch-ups after any injectable procedure, so you can get back to your life without anyone being the wiser!
Filler is a substance made of hyaluronic acid (HA), which is a naturally occurring substance in your skin. It is used to plump areas of the face and body that have experienced volume loss, or to shape areas of the face like the nose, chin, and jawline. Different fillers (Ultra and Ultra Plus, Voluma, Vollure, Volbella, Restylane, Radiesse, etc.) are designed with different measures of thickness and longevity; they can last anywhere from 1-2 years depending on the product used and the location injected. Some of my favorite locations for filler are the lips, cheeks, jawline, temples, and nasolabial folds. The treatment generally lasts 30 minutes (most of that time is spent discussing your needs and desires), and you can expect mild, but not unbearable, discomfort.
I suggest planning filler injections at least a week ahead of any major event, as swelling and bruising is a possibility with any filler injection. As mentioned above, we offer complimentary make-up touch ups after your injectable visit, so you can leave our office looking and feeling like you!
Perhaps you’ve been experimenting with making your own facials at home to keep your skin healthy and glowing, but need a little something extra to brighten or moisturize as you’re getting back to work. In my opinion, nobody performs a more relaxing and effective facial than our Lead Medical Aesthetician, Tatjana!
Tatjana offers 45 minute to 1 hour-long facials and peels, targeted to your specific skin type and individual skin concerns. Come in to see Tatjana to discuss any medspa skin service you might be interested in, including brightening your skin, controlling acne, hydrating dry skin, improving fine lines, and calming irritated and inflamed skin.
Everyone has that “one area” that, no matter how hard you exercise and diet, never seems to go away; this is where CoolSculpting is of benefit! The advanced CoolSculpting technology freezes localized areas of fat, causing damage and, ultimately, death, of the fat cell itself. Over the ensuing 2 to 3 months, the body removes the damaged fat cells from the area, causing a reduction of up to 25% of the fat present in the treatment area.
Each CoolSculpting treatment, or “cycle”, lasts 1 hour. You can expect mild discomfort and tingling as the treatment begins and ends (as the skin cools and re-warms), and an area of numbness that returns to normal between 2 days and 3 weeks afterwards. As with any minimally invasive body contouring technology, multiple treatments in the same area are required to get a great result.
CoolTone is the newest non-invasive body contouring tool at our practice, and one that I am personally pretty excited about! It uses electromagnetic stimulation to give your abdominal, gluteal, or thigh muscles (other treatment areas coming soon) a intense 30-minute workout, with the result being visible toning and strengthening. This is a perfect solution for anyone who wants firmer abs, tighter glutes, or more defined thighs!
CoolTone treatments begin with a series of four 30-minute “workouts” performed over a 2 week period, with subsequent maintenance treatments performed on a quarterly to monthly basis. I recommend that any necessary fat reduction be done prior to muscle toning, which is why I encourage pairing CoolSculpting with CoolTone for best results.
In my many years as a fitness competitor, I always had trouble with my abdominal region, and I can honestly say after my first series of four treatments I have never seen my midsection look better. I am a strong believer in CoolTone’s technology!
That wraps up my top 5 suggestions for coming out of quarantine! Wrinkle relaxers, fillers, facials & peels, CoolSculpting, and CoolTone are among our most popular services, and are here to help you continue your efforts to help you feel your best every day!

Donaldson Plastic Surgery & Aesthetic Solutions is introducing CoolTone, the latest FDA-cleared body sculpting technology from Allergan.
As the first practice to unveil CoolTone in Dublin, we are excited to provide our patients and the Dublin community with this whole new form of muscle conditioning. Even with a healthy diet and regular (even intense) exercise, it can be difficult to achieve a sculpted, contoured body with visible muscle definition. CoolTone not only creates toned muscles, but also drastically improves athletic performance.
CoolTone is a high-frequency electromagnetic device designed to tone, strengthen, and firm the muscles of the abdomen, buttocks, and thighs. CoolTone builds muscle through a process called Magnetic Muscle Stimulation (MMS), which sends a magnetic current into a targeted treatment area. This signal induces deep and intense ultra-rapid muscular contractions, at a magnitude never before seen by any device on the market. The Cooltone device has 50% more magnetic intensity than its leading competitor.
Candidates for CoolTone are people in good general health and within close range of a healthy weight who want to achieve greater muscle strength, mass, and definition. CoolSculpting patients are typically ideal candidates for CoolTone. We treat fat first, then muscle; at your consultation, we’ll help you determine if you’re a good candidate for CoolTone, or if a combined treatment of CoolSculpting and CoolTone will be more beneficial.
CoolTone will be coming to Donaldson Plastic Surgery & Aesthetic Solutions soon! We expect to be offering treatment in December 2019. Contact us to sign up to receive special pricing as one of our very first CoolTone patients. Spots are limited, so call us to set up your complimentary body sculpting consultation today!
Coolsculpting is a revolutionary new fat removal procedure that delivers noticeable results without surgery. The procedure requires the use of an applicator wand on the skin to freeze the underlying fat cells. While the results are less dramatic than with liposuction, Dr. Donaldson recommends the procedure to patients looking to attack fat cells without going under the knife.
The Coolsculpting procedure itself isn’t especially painful, but it can cause mild discomfort while the fat cells are being treated. For most patients, the side effects are limited to temporary numbness of the treated area, swelling, and redness of the skin. But a smaller number of patients experience more intense pain as nerves begin to awaken a few days after the procedure.
Delayed onset pain affects as much as 15 percent of patients, usually starting three or four days post-procedure. Some patients feel sudden, intense pain while others develop it gradually over hours or days as the stunned nerves begin to transmit signals again. The pain comes in many forms, from sharp to dull or burning, and it’s often accompanied by swelling, itching, and tenderness of the skin. Delayed onset pain usually subsides within 14 days.
Over-the-counter pain relievers are generally very effective. Patients may be prescribed a non-narcotic pain medication to act on nerve pain, but most physicians recommend treating the affected areas with ice packs or heat pads, compression garments, and drinking lots of water.
Many patients are happy with their results after just one Coolsculpting treatment, but others request two or three sessions to achieve the desired look. Most physicians encourage patients to wait for two months between treatments in order to see complete results.
Patients interested in Coolsculpting should contact Dr. Donaldson today to schedule a consultation.
Donaldson Plastic Surgery is pleased to announce the newest tool in their Coolsculpting arsenal—the revolutionary CoolAdvantage applicator. Now, those stubborn areas of fat can be treated in nearly half the time, while covering more surface area during a more comfortable treatment.
This new applicator features an enhanced cup design that provides direct tissue contact for a larger cooling area. With three interchangeable contours, the CoolAdvantage is able to be fitted to the flanks, abdomen, and inner thighs of nearly any body type. The short, effective 35 minute treatment time is perfect to accommodate any schedule.
The CoolAdvantage is just one more way Donaldson Plastic Surgery is committed to helping you look and feel your best. Using the science of cryolypolosis, or fat freezing, Coolsculpting is able to help you take off those unwanted pockets of fat that remain untouched by diet and exercise. After cooling the fat tissue the body undergoes a natural elimination of the treated cells, with full results of the treatment visible after 2-3 months.

Some issues that could prevent military admission can be corrected via plastic surgery. Those aspiring to serve their country can consult a plastic surgeon about resolving cosmetic issues such as gauged ears, tattoos, as well as help with liposuction or Coolsculpting.
Stretching the ear to accommodate wide gauge jewelry could be an issue for anyone desiring military service. In the US Armed Forces, having ear lobes that are cosmetically stretched to the point where light can readily be seen through the piercing, is typically an instant and permanent disqualification. Correcting gauged ears with an earlobe repair is an outpatient procedure requiring local anesthesia. The plastic surgeon removes the damaged skin and stitches the earlobe together with a natural looking contour. After healing, creases and folds of the ear usually conceal the scar.
Different branches of the military have individual policies regarding tattoos. For example, both the Army and the Navy allow arm sleeves, but the Army prohibits neck ink. Applicants will need to know specific prohibitions for admission. If a tattoo is prohibited, surgical excision may be an option. Generally, only small tattoos are suitable for removal, with larger ones not being ideal candidates for plastic surgery. The procedure involves using a scalpel to cut away the inked skin, and then the doctor closes the area with stitches.
Liposuction or Coolsculpting can help applicants resolve potential weight issues before joining the military. In the 17-20-year-old age group, men’s body measurements of height, neck, and waist are used to figure body fat percentage, which must be under 20 percent for the U.S. Army. Similarly, women’s measurements for neck, waist, and hips are used to calculate body fat percentage, which must be below 30 percent for the U.S. Army. Liposuction removes pockets of fat around the waist, under the chin, and other targeted areas, producing a sculpted appearance and helping the patient fall within the required ratios. Coolsculpting is a newer type of nonsurgical procedure that involves freezing fat cells, which are eventually eliminated from the body.
For those seeking enlistment in the armed forces but struggling with certain physical limitations, Dr. Donaldson will recommend the best options to help patients with meeting a particular military branch’s admission requirements. Don’t let a small deterrent hold back the dream of serving one’s country. Contact the team at Donaldson Plastic Surgery today.
As people get older, their skin loses some of its elasticity. Especially after gaining and losing weight, the resulting combination of fat bulges and sagging skin around the bra area can be challenging to fix simply by exercising and eating right. For some people, there is a hereditary component to consider. Even women who’ve always been slim can have fatty deposits that create a bulging effect around bra straps. Plastic surgery procedures can eliminate bra bulge for a smooth, sculpted appearance.
Removing fatty deposits through tiny quarter-inch incisions, this minimally-invasive surgical treatment is safe and effective for creating flatter contours. Tumescent liposuction involves adding medicated fluid to the patient’s fatty areas to reduce pain and bruising. Fat deposits are then suctioned away with great precision via thin cannulas. With the fat cells removed, the problematic bulges are eliminated.
Also referred to as liposelection or ultrasonic-assisted lipolysis, vaser liposuction is a body sculpting technique that uses ultrasound high-frequency waves to break down fat cells. This step emulsifies fat from a solid to a liquid, making it easier to remove without affecting the surrounding vessels or nerves. The ultrasound energy also helps tighten the skin for an improved appearance.
Another alternative is to use injectable substances. This non-surgical approach breaks down fat cell membranes, dissolving it over time. Plastic surgeons are most often using Kybella, an injectable treatment approved by the FDA in 2015. FDA-approved to eliminate a double chin, it works well for bra bulge too.
Kybella is administered as an in-office procedure. Each treatment takes about 10 minutes, and several sessions are scheduled one month apart for the best results. Patients can expect to see a difference after one or two months. Kybella uses a form of acid that naturally occurs in the body, and afterward the destroyed cells are metabolized and expelled. Like liposuction, this treatment is also permanent, with the bulge disappearing for a smooth, contoured look.
For a completely non-invasive approach, Coolsculpting is the method of choice. Effective on love handles, bra bulges, belly pouches, and other pockets of fat, Coolsculpting is a good option for individuals who seek a completely nonsurgical option. It utilizes an applicator that’s placed over the skin to freeze underlying fat cells. Results are visible within weeks, as the body sweeps the affected cells away.
Today there are more options than ever to remove unwanted bulges around the bra line. For additional information about body sculpting techniques and which approach is best for you, contact the team at Donaldson Plastic Surgery.
