Dr. Donaldson performs breast reduction surgery under general anesthesia. Incisions are made around the pigmented area or nipple‑areolar complex (NAC), extended vertically below the nipple and into the fold under the breast. The nipple‑areolar complex is elevated, excess breast tissue, fat, and skin are removed.

Incisions are covered with light dressings, a shaping bra is fitted, and you will go home the same day. The bra holds the breasts symmetrically during healing, and initial discomfort subsides daily with prescription medication. Normal activities resume in 1-2 weeks, and rigorous athletics may resume at 4-6 weeks. Scars usually fade in 6 to 12 months.
