As plastic surgeons, we constantly strive for more efficient and safer techniques that yield better results. But, we also urge potential patients to educate themselves about procedures they are interested in which means it is up to us, as surgeons, to provide them with access to this information. Care Should be Used When Choosing Your Plastic Surgeon

A family practice physician in Stamford, Connecticut recently had his medical license suspended because he was performing plastic surgery. According to court testimony, he offered liposuction in his office, which led to seizures and respiratory arrest.

Dr. Donaldson educates his patients about the proper training required to perform complex surgical procedures. He uses his own background as an example: 4 years of medical school, 5 years of general surgery residency, 2 years of plastic surgery fellowship and 6 months of oculoplastic and aesthetic sub-specialty fellowship.
